Summer is officially over but we’re not quite ready to let go. Therefore, we have given in to our annual Miami addiction a bit earlier than usual & are headed down for III Points festival in our favorite neighborhood, Wynwood.
Over three days, III Points Music, Art & Technology Festival offers panels, showcases demos, BBQs, parties, lectures, gallery shows, & street installations, aiming at shedding light on Miami’s talented local acts, vendors, artists & art collectives, while rounding out a line-up of cutting edge international performances on their immersive 5 stage set up at Mana Wynwood.
Our plan is to sweaty dance while eating a Cuban in some pastel art deco buildings shaded by mega tall palm trees that don’t grow in SC & then cleanse all of our sins in the ocean. Sounds good, doesn’t it? We thought so. Especially after reading just the first two rows of this lineup, we knew it was meant to be.
First off, Nicolas Jaar. Remember when we saw him (twice) at CMKY & would not shut up about it? & don’t get us started on Empress Of. Her latest release, Me, has been on repeat ever since it debuted earlier this month. Sorry neighbors. & of course there’s local celebrity, Toro Y Moi, who we remember seeing (& swooning) in the back of the pizza shops. His latest surprise collection of songs, Samantha, is very much worth the few clicks for the free download. Then there was that one time we stumbled upon Shlohmo‘s set at a basement party & it was the best mistake we’ve ever made. We’ll take an *NSYNC sample any damn day of the week. & we just partied with GoldLink & his amazing DJ at Hopscotch & would not miss seeing his moves again for nothin! Then there’s Ghostface… + Doom… Are our heads gonna explode? Maybs.
Enough talking. We made a playlist with some of our top contenders. See you in Miami!
