// moogfest: lineup

Moogfest is back & with a vengence! This 2016 lineup is STRONG with acts like Laurie Anderson, Explosions In The Sky, Blood Orange, sunn O))), Oneohtrix Point Never, Sun Ra Arekstra, Arthur Russell’s Instrumentals, Bicep, Dβˆ†WN, Empress Of, Hundred Waters, Julia Holter, GZA, Mykki Blanco, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Silver Apples, YACHT, & one of our favorite podcasts Song Exploder! & we can’t wait to explore even more artists we’re unfamiliar with leading up to the festival, resulting in a destined pre-fest guide (stay tuned).

At past Moogfests, we’ve seen gemsounds all-time MVP M.I.A., Machinedrum, Kraftwerk, Factory Floor, & so, so many other heavy-hitters. It’s the closest we’ve gotten to a sweaty Detroit basement party, & this year it’s in Durham, NC!

For a little background on the event, Moogfest is a tribute to Dr. Robert Moog & the profound influence his inventions have had on how we hear the world. During the day, it explores the future of technology & creativity with a mind-expanding conference featuring panels, workshops & installations. At night, the festival celebrates the future of sound with performances by early pioneers in electronic music, alongside pop & avant garde experimentalists.

Moog has released a free digital EP, Translational Drifts: Moogfest Volume 1, which is the first in a series. The EP features Moogfest artists (past, present, & future) covering classic electronic songs. For example, Dean Deacon covers Brian Eno, YACHT does Devo, & ADULT. does Pet Shop Boys! Listen below-

Festival passes are available here. If you can’t make it, we’ll be live covering for you, & can hardly contain our excitement! Hope to see you there! x
